TIPS FOR DESIGNING A SHARED BEDROOM

Boys & Girls Jungle Theme
Designing a child's room is difficult enough when there's only one child in the space. But when children must share a bedroom, designing that space doesn't have to be a daunting task, but a fun way to express each child’s dream space and getting to that shared utopia is simpler than you think!

Ask each child what their likes and interests are, then play with the mutual colors of each themed idea. There are many shared colors that work for both boys and girls room such as GREEN (garden butterflies/meadow dragonflies, RED (ladybugs/cars), BLUE (girls and boys surf or ocean critters), ORANGE (flowers/trucks), BROWN (pink & brown/blue & brown). Integrating dominant shared colors will not only give the room a cohesive look, but will also make each child feel as though their space within that room is their own.

Owls & Birds Theme
Another great way to decorate a shared bedroom is a mutual theme. Great unisex themes are spring meadow (bugs/butterflies), surf, sports, animals, jungle, or any show like Sesame Street or a nursery rhyme like Peter Rabbit or Humpty Dumpty. Another interesting idea for boys, girls or unisex rooms is having a theme that can share colors that appeal to both children like fish that can have more pinks or blues for twins or flowers that share the color green and/or yellow with purples or pinks being the defining color for each girl. Or one boy may like blue cars and the other red cars that can be incorporated into a transportation themed room.

You can also consider subtle areas of color by having the same bedding or furniture color but changing/adding the color in the artwork, wall pegs or throw pillows. There are many creative options to consider these days.

The main thing is having each space personal to each individual and making it fun, functional and festive!
