About The Artist
I have been drawing since I was a little girl. Every day after school I would whip out my binder full of drawings, illustrations and poems to add one more, and then another one... I started working with graphic design about 20 years ago which I had a keen interest in, and really wanted to make my work unique and different. The only way I knew how to do this effectively was to have a good eye for design and paint my own artwork to incorporate into the mix. That's when I started seriously getting into painting. Once my daughter was born 13 years ago I found myself doing more and more baby and children's art that I continue to this very day. I dabbled in sewing a bit as well and got into other crafty stuff, but painting and graphic design sort of took on a life of their own through the years. I am also working on my first children's book that I am really excited about. I had started writing the storyline about two and a half years ago and dabbled with the illustrations between projects or late at night. I'm hoping that in the next year I can complete the book and publish it. This will be the first of a series of books that I will be working on in the next few years. I can't wait!
I love being able to stay home to raise my children and still be able to work from home. It's all about balance in my life and I feel blessed in so many ways. Raising my children will always come first which will explain a few delays in my career as an artist, but that is ok by me. They are the reason I paint so I owe them my time more than anything. My two eldest daughters are 13 and 6, and my son is 4 years old. He was born with a few medical complications that would cease his breathing but he is getting past that now. He was also born with Congenital Kyphosis which means he is missing bone in three vertebrae of his spine (they look like Indian arrows and are small in size), but miraculously they are growing ever so slightly each year. So far he has not gone in for surgery to fuse his back like the surgeons were planning to do when he was two years old, so we're very lucky. My painting has helped tremendously with his medical expenses through the years, and I'm so grateful for that. I am also a wife to a fantastic (and dare I say good looking) husband whom I've been with 23 years now. He's my soul mate for sure.
For those that don't know me personally, I am a pretty level headed person, I think of the best case scenario before the worst, I trust people because there is good in all of us and it takes a lot for someone to lose that trust, I'm very loyal and honest, I live my life and maintain my business with integrity, and I try to live life to it's fullest. I appreciate the smaller things in life that I used to take for granted, I love hearing giggles around the corner, blowing bubbles with my kids, listening to the wind through the trees outside my door (I know this sounds corny but it’s so true), having a glass of wine with my husband, BBQ'ing with friends and family, and staying up late 'just because'. I love giving way more than receiving, and putting a smile on someone's face when they don’t expect it. I donate to my church, homeless shelters and for causes that are close to my heart such as St. Jude's Hospital, Shriners Hospital, and a sweet church in Los Angels that rehabilitates battered women. I donate my art for good causes, provide discounts for people that really need one, host 12 to 15 Giveaways per year, and teach people my skill who are eager to learn. Having said all of this, I also have to say that I'm not perfect by any means. I have my share of bad days like anyone else, but I do try to live my life through God's eyes as often as I can.
I’m hear if you have any questions or concerns, any day of the week. ;-)
Talk to you soon!
